2. Scope and Field of Application​

Applies to all services of diagnostic imaging and medical services nationwide in which gynecological or pelvic transvaginal ultrasound is performed.

3. Development 

Transvaginal pelvic ultrasound is a study performed on the woman, looking for anatomical or functional abnormalities in the female pelvic organs; It allows a detailed description of the uterus, the ovaries, and other female internal pelvic organs, by means of a transducer that is introduced vaginally.

3.1 Preparations and Recommendations Before the Study​

Read carefully and follow these recommendations in preparation for the exam:

  • Fasting is not required for this test; you can feed normally.
  • To complete this test, you do not have to have a full bladder.
  • Underage patients must attend in the company of an adult or guardian.
  • No colposcopy 8 days before or 8 days after the transvaginal ultrasound appointment.
  • If you have the results of previous exams related to this procedure, you must take them on the day of the exam.
  • It is essential to present the medical order at the time of the examination.
